About the project

The Mjesani Darajani Agro Mechanical Missericodia Sports Academy is a community initiative in Mjesani Darajani Village, Muheza District, Tanga Region.

We’re building a vocational training centre to serve less privileged young women and children who are forced out of school by poverty. Through practical skills in tailoring, mechanics, agro-processing, and entrepreneurship, health education and childcare support, we will help students break the cycle of early pregnancy and poverty.

Our goal is simple: give every young person in Mjesani Darajani the skills and dignity to build their own future.

THE DREAM BEARER

Fr. Adolph Izahaki Lazaro Majeta Wosa

Born and raised in Mjesani Darajani Village, Fr. Adolph Majeta understands both the struggles and the potential of rural Tanzania.

Growing up in a community where many families depended on low-income agricultural labour, he witnessed poverty, limited opportunities, and the difficult choices many young people face.

Through determination, education, and faith, he was able to pursue his studies and eventually answer a higher calling as a Roman Catholic Priest and missionary.

His journey took him far beyond the boundaries of his village. Yet throughout his years of service, one conviction remained constant:

The community that raised him deserved greater opportunities.

Instead of leaving his roots behind, Fr. Majeta chose to return and invest in the future of his people.

Today, he serves as the visionary behind the Mjesani Darajani Community Development Project, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering future generations through education, skills development, agriculture, sports, and entrepreneurship.

His dream is to create a self-sustaining ecosystem of opportunity that will continue transforming lives for decades to come.

WHY THIS PROJECT MATTERS

In Mjesani Darajani, Muheza District, Tanga Region, poverty pushes too many children especially girls out of school before Standard 7. No school fees. No sanitary pads. No safe transport. When classrooms close, early pregnancy often opens. At 13-15 years old, girls trade books for baby care, and the cycle of poverty repeats.

We are building the training centre right in Mjesani Darajani Village to give less privileged young women and children practical skills, safety, and a second chance, even if formal school stopped too soon.
